GREEN³ › Climate-neutral printing
What is climate-neutral printing? All incineration processes generate CO2, which is linked to global warming.
These emissions can be offset by adopting climate protection measures that keep emissions low at other locations. What is important is that there should be no overall increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Measures
The fundamental concept behind climate-neutral printing is that the CO2 emitted by the entire production chain is calculated and we then offer customers an opportunity to offset these emissions by investing in climate protection projects. In contrast to other industrial sectors, CO2 emissions from printing houses are relatively low, and our involvement in climate-neutral printing is voluntary, rather than being governed by legislation.
Climate partners
The Federal Association for Printing and Media has collaborated with the Federal Environment Ministry to draw up a CO2 calculation model that is tailored to the needs of the printing industry. E&B engelhardt und bauer acted as the test partner during the development of the model, and we have since received certification for our climate-neutral printing processes. This entitles us to produce a report for our customers on the CO2 emissions generated by each of their printing orders. To offset these emissions, certificates can be purchased, the proceeds from which are invested in climate protection measures such as wind generators or biomass plants.
